The operation Tea & Coffee Towers presented by Alessi in 2003 was focused on the design of a tea and coffee by 22 international architects for the first time confronted with the design industry. Produced in limited edition of 99 copies and made mainly of silver, these services have opened a new expressive dimension to the domestic landscape of 2000. But their high production costs put the objects towards museums or wealthy collectors around the world. It was a pity that none of this design effort was available for regular customers, and that is why Alessi asked the authors of Tea & Coffee Towers to draw a simple cup of coffee in china. A cup that would concentrate the design spirit that motivated the design of their tea and coffee and was able to offer our clientele the intellectual stimulation, the surprise and aesthetic delight of the original designs.
